Halifax Stanfield International Airport has been recognized on the global stage, winning the Routes World Award for airports serving under five million passengers.
The honour was presented this week in Hong Kong at Routes World 2025.
The award highlights the Halifax International Airport Authority’s (HIAA) work in air service development, marketing, and building strong partnerships with airlines and the community.
The recognition carries extra weight, as airlines from around the world nominate and vote for the winning airports.
“We are honoured to be recognized by Routes on the global stage for the strength of our air service development strategy, innovative marketing, and strong community partnerships,” said Marie Manning, HIAA’s Vice President of Business Development & Chief Commercial Officer. “This award showcases the bold work of our team, the confidence of our airline partners, and the growing connectivity Halifax Stanfield delivers for our region.”
In the past year, Halifax Stanfield has seen record growth in U.S. and European service.
Transborder capacity rose 14 per cent, supported by new non-stop flights to Chicago on both United Airlines and American Airlines. European service expanded by 25 per cent, with WestJet launching flights to Amsterdam, Barcelona and Paris, and Edelweiss adding Zurich.
The airport also opened its new International Connections Facility, designed to strengthen passenger connections and enhance the travel experience. Marketing campaigns have been another cornerstone, with HIAA working alongside airlines and tourism partners to execute 28 campaigns for eight carriers in the past year.
