Another bargaining impasse for Dalhousie University, this time between the Dal Board and CUPE Local 3912.
The union represents about 5000 academics, teachers assistants, markers and demonstrators from several universities.
On Oct. 2, both parties met for conciliation but failed to reach an agreement.
Last week, the conciliator filed a report that the Dal Board and CUPE were at an impasse. That means the parties have a 14-day waiting period before they meet again with a conciliator on Oct. 20.
However, if they do not reach an agreement, it’s possible the workers could go on strike or be locked out by the university board.
“We remain optimistic that an agreement will be reached through conciliation. More information will be shared if a labour disruption appears likely,” the university wrote on its labour relations web page.
Dalhousie’s faculty went on strike in August for about a month until they reached a deal with the board and returned to work mid-September.
