There is a new Officer in Charge at the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment.
In a statement, RCMP say Superintendent John Duff has been appointed to the role.
Duff is a Halifax native who joined the force in 1990 after graduating from Acadia University with a degree in Biology.
He has 35 years of service, spending the majority of his career in Manitoba, rising through the ranks to become Superintendent.
Duff retired briefly from the RCMP in 2018, but came back shortly after, rejoining as Officer in Charge in Selkirk.
RCMP say he has become a familiar face at community events since becoming part of the Halifax Detachment and says these are his priorities:
“I want to continue integration with Halifax Regional Police, elevate community safety, and strengthen our connection with the communities we serve while ensuring health and wellness of our employees.”
Duff is a third generation Mountie following in the footsteps of both his father and grandfather.
