Who knew a coal miner’s daughter could grow up to become a heavy metal fan?
Last week, Loretta Lynn reportedly attended Metallica’s show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, and the band made sure to thank her for her presence.
“We love Loretta Lynn, by the way,” bassist Rob Trujillo said halfway through the concert.
“We think she’s here tonight. [Guitarist Kirk Hammett] was supposed to sing this song, but he says he’s too nervous. So I’ve gotta sing it, so help me out here…If we blow it, don’t kick our a**, all right? We’re gonna have fun. It’s a party, remember that.” Trujillo then launched into a cover of Lynn’s 1971 hit, “You’re Lookin’ at Country.”
