The shaming of a sexual assault survivor is allegedly what sparked the intense brawl between 2 Nova Scotia university men’s hockey teams during a game in Wolfville on Saturday. Sam Studnicka, a player with St. FX and his coach, Brad Peddle, have released statements about the fight with Axemen players from Acadia. Studnicka did not identify the sexual assault survivor or specify what was said.
A girl from Bridgetown has died in hospital in Halifax after the car she was driving left the road and hit a utility pole on Sunday. The 17 year old driver lost control of the car while making a turn on Highway 201 in Annapolis County, around 7PM. The car was heavily damaged and overturned in the ditch.

A fire that damaged a Sydney funeral home has been deemed suspicious. Chant’s Funeral Home on Alexandra Street was damaged after the fire broke out around 8PM Saturday. No one was in the building at the time so no injuries were reported.
