Which tradespeople are the most prolific farters? U.K. commercial vehicle specialists ‘Vanarama’ (apparently) needed to know this kind of thing, and they’ve shared the results of their study. 75% of tradesmen admit to passing wind up to 20 times a day in their service vans. Perhaps more shockingly, the survey revealed that 78% of tradespeople have no problem with releasing their signature fragrance in front of colleagues. Nearly half of the builders surveyed (44%) revealed that they’ve had complaints about how bad their van smells.
The big question: which trades are the worst farters? Builders’ butts released the most wind, with 86% of them admitting to squeaking out up to 20 farts a day in their van. In second place came electricians, and taking the bronze were painter and decorators (76%). Carpenters brought up the rear, with just only of those surveyed admitting to kicking in their afterburners while on the road.
Over half (52%) of tradespeople drive their vans five times a week, with an average tradesman farting about 20 times a day – that adds up to 100 farts a week and 5,200 farts a year in their van. If you then consider that the typical tradesman has their van for up to four years – that’s an average of 20,800 farts in every used van on the road today.
