The Halifax Macs beat the Toronto Young Nationals in the Telus Cup tourney opener!
The Halifax McDonald’s opened the Telus Cup national championship with a victory on Monday afternoon.
Josh Crooks scored both goals as Halifax edged the Toronto Young Nationals 2-1 in the opening game of the national midget hockey tournament in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Liam Oxner turned aside 33 shots for the Macs, the Nova Scotia and Atlantic major midget champions.
The Macs will next face Quebec champion Cantonniers de Magog on Tuesday at 1 p.m. and the Tisdale Trojans of Saskatchewan on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
