The Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation is cancelling public school rugby games across the province due to safety concerns. The decision was made following a number of injuries by rugby players. The federation says the decision was not a knee jerk reaction and that it’s been an ongoing discussion with the board for over a year.

A former Saint Mary’s University groundskeeper who was found guilty of sexual assault & voyeurism was sentenced yesterday in court. 36 year old Matthew Percy was sentenced to 2½ years in prison, but with almost 2 years already served, he will have to only serve another 6 months. Percy will also be on probation for 3 years once he’s released.
The provincial government will spend $15 million to hire 173 specialists for students with extra needs in school. Education Minister Zach Churchill made the announcement yesterday. The new positions include 18 guidance councillors, 11 autism teacher specialists, 30 education assistants and more.
