Halifax’s auditor general, Evangeline Colman-Sadd, is calling the findings of purchases on municipal credit cards “inappropriate”. Purchases of headphones, bluetooth speakers and other expensive items were discovered on bank statements from municipal credit cards. A progress report will be presented to the audit committee by the fall.
A former Halifax transit staff member has received more than half a million dollars in a harassment case. The former bus mechanic says he was subject to racial slurs, vandalism of his tools and assault for 5 years. This is the largest amount of money ever awarded to someone by the NS Human Rights Commission.

A by-election has been called in Sackville-Cobequid for June 18th after MLA Dave Wilson retired back in the fall. Four parties have already nominated candidates for the race. Steve Craig is running for the PC’s, Anthony Edmonds for the Green Party, Lara Fawthrop for the NDP and Michel Hindlet will run for the Liberals.
