Luke Combs’ career just keeps ascending to new highs, as the country singer was surprised onstage this week with an invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry. MusicRow reports that Opry members Chris Janson, Craig Morgan and John Conlee ambushed Combs with the invite, which came during his 16th appearance on the Nashville institution’s stage.
“How would you like to be the next member of the Grand Ole Opry?” the three men asked Combs in unison.
The “Beer Never Broke My Heart” singer responded by doubling over in disbelief before breaking down in tears.
“Holy cow!” Combs said after regaining his composure. “Are you serious? Okay, ’cause if you’re not serious, that’s really mean.” Nash Country Daily notes that his formal Opry induction will come later this year.
