Gerard Dunn from North Sydney, whose story touched the world and inspired thousands of people to mail him birthday cards passed away peacefully on Monday evening.
Dunn, who was 92, made national headlines last fall when his daughter Miriam Dunn’s tweet asking for birthday cards went viral, amassing over 21,000 shares and sparking a deluge of 4,500 cards to his Cape Breton home.
This was to comfort him after his wife Ellen passed away.
Gerrard’s son Morrissey Dunn is our Program Director (the boss) here at Hot Country 1035, so our thoughts are with Moe and his family.
Moe and his Dad Gerrard are quite the piano players, here they are tickling the ivory’s doing the “Wild Fingers Boogie Woogie!”
Heaven just got one talented piano player.
Rest in peace Gerrard, keeping being the “Piano Man” was there!
