A Dartmouth man is working toward completing 40 marathons ahead of the 40th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope this fall!
Matthew White began this challenge in January, giving himself 37 weeks to complete 40 marathons.
Just imagine running through a Nova Scotia winter!
He ran his first marathon in 2012 at the Valley Harvest Marathon in Wolfville and swore he’s never run a marathon again.
White got the idea in December and committed on January 4th when he did his first run. Most weeks he runs one marathon, but a few weeks have required a double-up due to bad winter weather and one terrible spring run.
The Valley Harvest course is now where White does most of his running although he’s done some klicks on the treadmill too. He’s completed over half of his runs so far.
Over the summer, White will finish 18 more marathons and would love if runners donated to the Terry Fox Foundation.
The 40th annual Terry Fox Run for Cancer research is scheduled to go Sunday, September 20th.
Way to go Matthew, keep up the great work!
