Margaret MacGregor-MacDonald has been so inspired by the creativity of other people during COVID-19, she decided to get busy at the piano. The 86-year old Antigonish woman has written a piece called The Pandemic Waltz.
Margaret says she picked this music genre because she “just likes waltzes.” She’s written them in the past for friends and family celebrating birthdays or grad. The lifelong musician says she played around with the tune for a day or two and came up with a hopeful melody sure to make you forget about the darker days.
Margaret says music has helped her cope with loneliness while she can’t have as many visitors these days. It sounds like it’s cheering up lots of other people too.
Since her niece posted a video of Margaret playing the Pandemic Waltz on Facebook, it’s been viewed more than 3000 times!
