A former Halifax Moosehead and Vancouver Canucks prospect Sawyer Hannay has scored a deal on TV’s Dragon’s Den with his Country Liberty clothing line!
Sawyer grew up in Rexton, New Brunswick, just outside of Moncton, a small town of just 800 people.
He started out selling t-shirts out of his apartment while at university but grew the company into something a lot bigger: big enough to pitch to the investors on Dragon’s Den as his $2.5 million in sales caught their attention.
Ultimately, he impressed enough of the “Dragons” with his clothing line to get several competing offers, accepting an offer of $150,000 for 20% of his company from Jim Treliving and Lane Merrifield.
Sawyer’s 28 now and played here for the Mooseheads for three seasons from 2009 to 2012.
Way to go Sawyer and good luck!
-Ian
