The Boston Bruins are retiring Willie O’Ree’s number 22 jersey.
The 85 year old O’Ree broke NHL colour barrier over 60 years ago in 1958.
Boston will honour the Hockey Hall of Famer before the February 18th game against the New Jersey Devils.
He says “I was at a loss for words there for a few seconds,” “I’m overwhelmed and thrilled about having my Bruins jersey hung up in the rafters.”
