Halifax Mooseheads former Head Coach Dom Ducharme was named the interim Head Coach of the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday after the NHL club let go former Halifax Citadel Claude Julien and Assistant Coach Kirk Muller.
Ducharme coached the Herd for five seasons from 2011-2016 and set the franchise record for most career wins with 194.
Ducharme guided Halifax to the 2013 President Cup and Memorial Cup Championships while winning Coach of the Year honours in both the QMJHL and CHL that season.

He has also won a Gold Medal with Hockey Canada as the Head Coach at the World Junior Hockey Championships and a Silver Medal as an Assistant Coach.
The Joliette, QC native departed Moose Country in the spring of 2016 to become the Head Coach and General Manager of the Drummondville Voltigeurs where he spent two seasons before being hired by the Montreal Canadiens as an Assistant Coach in 2018.
As the Mooseheads Public Address Announcer, Dom and Co-Captain Trey Lewis held the QMJHL President Cup for me to drink out of when we won it in 2013, a great memory!

Congrats to Coach Dom from Hot Country 1035, well deserved!
