A man has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to the death of a 21 year-old man on Friday night in Halifax.
Mitchell William Coles, 26, of Halifax has been charged in connection with the homicide.
Meantime, Halifax police are releasing the name of the young man who died in what is now being called a stabbing.
Damien Lamoureux died from life-threatening injuries at around 11:35 p.m. on May 21.
Police originally said they received a report of gunshots, but after looking into it further, it was determined Lamoureux had been stabbed and died from those injuries.
“At this time, we do not have any evidence of firearm shots being fired as part of this incident,” Halifax Regional Police stated in news release. “Investigators do not believe this to be a random incident, and are not looking for any other suspects.”
Officers first responded to the call at about 8:30 p.m. on Barrington Street.
Officers arrested three people including Coles in connection with the stabbing. The two other adults were released without charges.
