A former Halifax regional councillor has been elected as the Liberal candidate for Cole Harbour-Dartmouth.
Lorelei Nicoll will represent the Nova Scotia Liberal Party in the next provincial election. The nomination meeting was conducted virtually due to COVID-19.
Nicoll served as the councillor for District 4 Cole Harbour – Westphal for 12 years, and was Deputy Mayor in 2015.
“I love where we live and am passionate about our community,” Nicoll said in a news release. “My many years of community involvement and leadership, and my 12 years on HRM Council have prepared me well for the challenges our province is facing. I am ready to continue to serve you as part of Team Rankin with commitment, timeliness, empathy, and kindness.”
During that time she represented council on the boards of the Halifax Partnership, Halifax Water, Trade Centre Limited and Destination Halifax, and the Canadian Urban Transit Association.
Nicoll announced last July she would not reoffer in the 2020 municipal election.
