No injuries have been reported after a fire at a high-rise building in Larry Uteck Friday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the building’s rooftop in the 300 block shortly after 9:30 a.m. The site near Abbigail’s apartment complex is currently under construction.
Halifax Fire Deputy Chief Dave Meldrum tells our newsroom the fire was highly visible as roofing material related to the construction was burning, which can cause a lot of smoke.
Meldrum says crews worked fast and were able to knock it down quickly, containing it to a small area of the roof.
Investigators remain on site to determine the cause.

The road reopened shortly before noon.
