More Nova Scotians can now book their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine earlier.
Health officials announcing those who received their first dose on or before April 24th, and were set to receive their second shot by August 7th, can now reschedule their appointments.
Those who are eligible will see a rescheduling notice sent to the email address that was provided at the time of booking. The second dose can be booked for a new date and time at any clinic across the province with an available appointment.
Anyone who has received a first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine can choose either one for their second.
Nova Scotians who got AstraZeneca are advised to get Pfizer or Moderna for their second shot.
Health officials say that recommendation is based on emerging evidence of a better immune response with an alternate second dose. There is also the risk of rare but serious blood clotting issues associated with AstraZeneca.
Rescheduling notices will continue to be sent over the coming weeks as vaccine supply is received.
Anyone who did not provide an email when booking their first shot can call the toll-free line at 1-833-797-7772 to reschedule or request an email address be added.
