The community is rallying behind a family after a motorcycle crash claimed the life of a 45-year-old man in Mount Uniacke.
RCMP responded to the collision on Highway 1 at around 9:30 on Tuesday night.
They say the driver had been thrown from the vehicle and was taken to hospital where he later died from his injuries. Police have not released the man’s name.
A GoFundMe has been set up for the family of Mark MacDonald.
In a Facebook post, PC MLA for Sackville-Beaver Bank Brad Johns confirms MacDonald was the driver involved in the Mount Uniacke collision.
Johns says he’s known MacDonald and his family since he was eight-years-old, describing him as a great guy who was always ready to step up and help others, all with a smile on his face.
Kira Noble, the organizer of the GoFundMe, says Mark’s partner Shanna is a stay-at-home mom who will be taking on some very heavy expenses in the next little while.
Noble is hoping the fundraiser will help to lighten the burden for Shanna and their four kids, adding every little bits counts.
The GoFundMe has already surpassed its initial $10,000 goal with nearly $18,000 raised since Wednesday.
