Halifax Regional Police have charged a 26-year-old man with impaired driving and firearms offences after attempting to pull a vehicle over in the city’s north end on Monday.
Patrol officers tried to stop the vehicle on Barrington Street just after 12 a.m., but they say it kept going, turning onto Rector Street where it struck a stop sign.
Officers arrested the driver near the car and seized alcohol, a rifle, and magazines.
Jared Alexander Taylor has been charged with the following offences:
- possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
- unauthorized possession of firearm
- possession of firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle
- unsafe storage of a firearm
- possession of weapon or ammunition contrary to a court order (x3)
- flight from police
- dangerous operation
- resist arrest
- impaired operation of a conveyance
- impaired operation of a conveyance over 80 mg%
- breach of a court order (x2)
He was scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Monday.
