Nova Scotians can access COVID-19 testing through Public Health’s Mobile units this weekend in Halifax Regional Municipality and Cape Breton Regional Municipality.
Health officials say testing people who show no symptoms of COVID-19 is one of the main tools that has helped limit the spread of the virus in the province.
Residents are encouraged to get tested even with mild symptoms, like a sore throat, a runny/congested nose or headache.
The following locations will be available for drop-in and pre-booked appointments:
- Dartmouth North Public Library (105 Highfield Park Dr.) – Outdoors Saturday, July 3 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Ketch Harbour Community Hall (964 Ketch Harbour Rd.) – Sunday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Pensioners Club (445 Upper North St., Glace Bay) – Saturday, July 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Community members are encouraged to pre-book their testing appointments by completing the self-assessment tool online. If you don’t have access to the internet, call 811.
*Drop-in testing is based on capacity.
Important notes when visiting the mobile unit:
– You do not need to self-isolate while you wait for your results unless you have symptoms or are advised by Public Health to isolate.
– The testing method is standard PCR swab or Swish and Gargle for children and youth. Preparation is required for gargle testing. View instructions.
– Please bring your health card if you have one.
– When testing is offered outside, please dress accordingly.
– Public Health is encouraging all Nova Scotians to be tested regularly for COVID-19. If it has been more than a week since your last test consider getting tested again, even if you are vaccinated. No vaccine is 100% effective. As a result, Nova Scotians are encouraged to continue making testing a regular part of their routine.
