The province is investing $6 million to upgrade and carry out repairs in schools across Nova Scotia.
The funding covers 26 projects in all seven regional centres for education and Conseil scolaire acadien provincial.
“The school capital renovation fund will allow schools from Freeport, Digby Co., to Sydney to undertake renovations that will improve the learning experience for students and the teaching experience for educators,” said Education Minister Derek Mombourquette in a news release. “Schools are the heart of our communities. Our government continues to invest in the people and places that make our education system work.”
The projects include energy efficiency improvements, such as heating and green energy updates, new windows, exterior and interior building repairs, as well as enhancements to parking and transportation. Some of the projects began in 2020 and will be completed this year.

- Shannon Park Elementary – Upgrade heating, including converting steam radiators to baseboard hot water
- Beaufort – Upgrades to flooring and internal painting and repairs
