Congrats to former Halifax Mooseheads Coach Dom Ducharme who has been officially introduced as the Montreal Canadiens 31st head Coach!
Yesterday Dom had the “interim tag” removed from his Habs title after signing a three year deal worth 1.7 million per year.
During his five years here in Halifax between 2011 and 2016, Dom helped the Herd win the 2013 QMJHL President Cup and Memorial Cup.
Yesterday he was sentimental recalling his path along the way that has landed him one of the top jobs in the NHL.
July 13th has always been a special day for Dom. He says: “You always think back to your past and your family. July 13th is an important date in our family. It’s the date our parents got married. It’s also five years ago to the day that my father was buried. It’s almost like destiny that this is happening on this particular date. It could’ve happened on the 12th or the 14th, but it all transpired on the 13th. I’m thinking about my kids, my girlfriend, my friends, and all the people I worked alongside over the years, whether at UQTR, in Joliette, in Halifax, in Drummondville, and with Hockey Canada. They all had an impact on me.”
Congratulations my friend, it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy, we are all Moose Country proud!
