Halifax Regional Police are investigating after they say vehicles and a home were struck by gunfire in the city overnight.
Patrol officers were called to the area near Barrington and Richmond Streets after multiple residents reported hearing several shots being fired shortly before 1 a.m.
Police were told the suspects took off in vehicles and on foot.
Investigators determined several unoccupied vehicles and the residence had been hit. No injuries have been reported.
HRP says the area has been secured and there is no ongoing risk to the public.
One person has been taken into custody near the scene and police have located a vehicle that’s of interest.
Barrington Street was closed to traffic between Hanover and Duffus Streets as the HRP’s Forensic Identification Unit completed its work. The road reopened at around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday.
The area is expected to remain shutdown throughout the morning. HRP will provide an update when it reopens.
