The province’s politicians are banging on doors and pounding the pavement.
But the people on the street beside them aren’t as keen.
“We have a summer election coming up? I had no idea.”
Robin from Dartmouth isn’t alone. Like many of us she’s thinking more about how she’ll spend her few summer days than about an election campaign.
Iain Rankin called the election Saturday; we’re headed to the polls August 17.
Laurie from Eastern Passage knew about the election call, but she says she doesn’t know how she feels about the race being held in the middle of summer.
“It’s going to be interesting, I know, where I’m from because I’ve got three women running.”
She says that’s a great sign, at least.
Elections are typically held in the spring or fall. The last summer provincial election was in 2003.
This time around there’s another factor, we’re finally out of COVID-19 lockdown, and it’s hard to imagine anyone wanting to deal with an election now.
