The Nova Scotia Green Party has launched its campaign straight from the back deck of it’s interim leader’s home.
Jessica Alexander, who is also the candidate for Chester-Saint Margaret’s, said during the virtual launch they’re putting the final touches on their platform.
“The other parties are out there waving their money around and also waving your money around,” Alexander says. “The Greens are well aware that the money is on the other side. The leaders are out there on their buses selling their plans, and we’re here on my deck with our good ideas and our lean budget.”
She says the Greens would work to eliminate poverty, introduce fixed election dates, and grow a green economy.
“The Green’s will work to end poverty by implementing a guaranteed livable income, a survivable income, which will allow people to develop their own opportunities for meaningful livelihoods,” Alexander said.
The Greens were set to hold a vote for a new leader in Nova Scotia on August 14th, but that has been placed on hold because of the provincial election.
