Nova Scotia’s border will look a little different for travellers on Wednesday morning.
The province is putting some travel restrictions back in place for visitors from New Brunswick as COVID-19 cases continue to climb there.
Anyone who visits our province from New Brunswick will need to follow the same requirements as people heading here from outside Atlantic Canada.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang says the move is necessary due to rising infection numbers, adding a fourth wave is also imminent.
“New Brunswick has seen a recent rise in cases, and some of our cases in the last week are directly linked to that province,” Strang says.
The rules also apply to Nova Scotians who are coming back home. The Nova Scotia Safe Check-in form must be filled out and proof of vaccination will be required.
Quarantine measures will be based on vaccination status. Travellers who are double vaxxed will not need to isolate.
People with one dose must quarantine for a week and its fourteen days for those who have not received any doses at all. COVID-19 testing will also be required.
Nova Scotia reported 11 new COVID cases on Tuesday, so province-wide active cases are at 49. New Brunswick saw 15 new cases. The total number of active infections is 167.
The measures come into effect at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
