A warning is out for six lakes in the Halifax area due to blue-green algae.
The province has issued the advisory for the Shubenacadie Canal between Grand Lake and Lake Mic Mac.
The environment department says you shouldn’t swim in the water or drink it and pets should be kept away.
In Nova Scotia, more than 20 bodies of water are under such advisories.
Officials say the alerts will be kept in place because once blue-green algae appears, it’s more likely to reappear in the same lake.
