Investigators are continuing their work to solve the murder of a young Indian man in Truro earlier this month.
The Truro Police Service has released an update, saying they’ve made “substantial progress” in their investigation into the homicide of 23-year-old Prabhjot Singh Katri.
Police say they cannot provide details on the motive, but they’re looking at all factors, including whether the crime was fueled by hate.
They’re continuing to have talks with Katri’s family, friends, and the Maritime Sikh Society.
Members have called the tragedy a “hate crime.”

Katri was sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries on September 5th after an incident at an apartment building on Robie Street at around 2 a.m. He later passed away at the hospital.
In the days following his death, investigators executed several search warrants and arrested a person of interest. The individual was released without charges.
A candlelight vigil was held by The Maritime Sikh Society in the town last week to honour Katri and to call for justice.
Residents placed flowers around the stairs of the apartment building and put candles on the ground to show their support.
An online fundraiser has raised more than $97,000 to help send his body home to his parents in India.
Police say this “senseless act” has “deeply shaken” their community.
