The premier is kicking off his “Speak up for Healthcare” tour on Monday.
Tim Houston and Health Minister Michelle Thompson will travel around the province to meet with frontline workers, including doctors, nurses, and paramedics.
The province’s website says the initiative will be crucial in helping transform the health care system.
“Government is focused on Nova Scotians getting the right care, at the right time, in the right place,” the province says. “Moving forward, our government will work to implement our plan to heal our healthcare system, with input from those working within it.”
The campaign’s goal is to hear from workers directly about the changes needed to help improve the health system.
Jason MacLean, the President of the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union, has sent a letter to workers asking them to participate.
MacLean says it’s important for frontline workers to make sure their voices are heard.
“I realize that many of you are burnt out and exhausted from the work you have been doing over the past 18 months, and that we are asking a lot of you by asking you to take the time to participate in this process,” MacLean says. “We are also doing our best to arrange for meetings with the new Premier and Minister of Health and Wellness . . . but it is absolutely critical that they hear directly from you.”
The tour wraps up on Thursday.
