Hundreds of university students held an impromptu homecoming party in Halifax.
The massive outdoor party took place on Saturday afternoon and stretched into the night near Dalhousie.
Many people on social expressed concerns as COVID-19 cases are rising in our province and over potential community spread in the city.
A huge banner hung from a house on Larch Street almost serving as a backdrop or theme to the gathering which read: “We’re double vaxxed, relax”
Dalhousie University issued a statement on Friday that they were aware unsanctioned events were being planned.

The university issued a stern warning on Sunday because of the risks associated with large gatherings during the pandemic.
“We are gravely disappointed in the deplorable, reckless behaviour of students who organized and attended large, unsanctioned and illegal street parties near campus yesterday. We are working very hard to ensure appropriate consequences will follow.” – Dalhousie University
Most students used the gathering to let loose and as a time to celebrate a return to campus life and in-person learning.
Police arrested nine men and a woman for being drunk in public and officers wrote numerous tickets for open liquor.
They say more fines could be issued.
