Nova Scotia is poised to enter Phase 5 next week, and we’ll get more details from the top doctor on Wednesday.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang will be joined by Premier Tim Houston and Health and Wellness Minister Michelle Thompson.
Phase 5 was previously delayed due to rising cases of COVID-19 and is now set to open when we launch our vaccine passport system on Monday.
You’ll have to show proof that you’re fully vaccinated for non-essential activities like going to bars and restaurants, hitting the gym, and catching a movie or concert.
We’re supposed to see most public health restrictions dropped under the final stage of reopening, but it’s likely mask use will continue to be mandatory.
The update comes as the province announced 83 new cases on Monday and the 96th COVID linked death. That data includes the numbers for the weekend.
We’ll also learn more about the presence of the virus in schools as we’ll now have daily updates on school exposures.
The provincial COVID-19 briefing is schedule for 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
