We missed it last year, but don’t expect such a mild flu season again.
That’s the message from Allison Bodnar, President of the Pharmacy Association of Nova Scotia.
Bodnar said last year’s COVID-19 measures protected us from the flu.
“We had very, very little transmission of flu last year,” she said. “Almost nonexistent.”
Bodnar said those restrictions have since been lifted, and she’s expecting the flu to come back.
She said we’ve already seen cases of flu this year, and that makes the flu shot as important as ever.
“Maybe some belief that you don’t need this, but you do,” she said. “COVID-19 immunizations aren’t going to help you with the flu.”
Pharmacies are getting their first shipments of flu vaccine next week, and you’ll need an appointment again this year to get the shot.
