The Nova Scotia rink won their morning match 11-6 over Pat Ferris before getting edged 7-6 by Ontario’s Glenn Howard.
Flemming is back on the ice at noon today to battle Winnipeg’s Braden Calvert.
Several men’s teams are off to 2-0 starts including Tyler Tardi and Jason Gunnlaugson.
On the women’s side it was a rough day for Liverpool native Jill Brothers who lost twice.
The Halifax squad gave up three points in the final end to drop an 8-7 decision to Winnipeg’s Darcy Robertson before getting shelled 11-4 by Ontario’s Hollie Duncan.
The Bluenosers will try to rebound today at 4 when they face PEI’s Suzanne Birt.
Corryn Brown of Kamloops leads with three straight wins while Thunder Bay’s Krista McCarville is 2-0.
Action continues through Sunday with the top two women’s and men’s teams advancing to the Roar of The Rings in Saskatoon next month with a shot at representing Canada at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
