I was honoured to be invited to a special surprise tribute to the legendary Clary Flemming on Friday night and surprise him we did!
Various colleagues from Clary’s long and successful career joined together to salute him with video tributes to one of the best in the Halifax media business.
Steve Murphy gave a touching speech, Terry Kelly and the local band Barnacle starring Clary’s son Craig Flemming entertained.
Some of my best memories with my Father growing up were watching Clary host Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling in the 70’s on ATV with Leo Burke, The Beast, Bobby Kay and Rudy Kay, Leapin’ Lanny, Big Stephen Pettipas and the “bad guys” The Cuban Assassin, “No Class” Bobby Bass, Sweet Daddy Siki, “Bulldog” Bob Brown and of course Killer Karl Krup with “The CLAW!”

Clary has done it all from radio and TV to announcing hockey and horse racing to being “The Voice” of Sobeys commercials for years and much more.
Who doesn’t remember this Maritime Christmas classic TV commercial from 1987 that Clary produced that was brought back in 2016 with the original kids all grown up:
Here’s the 2016 commercial with the grown up cast and original Music Teacher:
To become a friend of Clary’s and get to work on projects with him now is a thrill, my Dad would think it is pretty cool.
It was a special night with MEEEEEESTER FLEMMMMMING! (Killer Karl Krup-ism)
