20 years ago this weekend Alabama played the Halifax Metro Centre.
When I started in radio at CKPE-FM “Cape Country” in 1984 in Sydney, Alabama ruled the Country music charts!
Randy Owen and his Cousins Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook formed in 1969 and were known as Wild Country, they changed their name to Alabama after their home state in 1977.
Alabama’s biggest success came in the 1980s, the band has over 41 number one country records on the Billboard charts to their credit and have sold over 75 million records, making them the most successful band in country music history.
The boys from Fort Payne, Alabama brought their incredible harmonies to Halifax, Nova Scotia 20 years ago on October 30th, 2001 to a pretty much packed Metro Centre.
It was Bucket List Concert for me, with the ticket stub above for the collection.
Were you there?
