Make no bones about it, Halloween is a frighteningly good time.
But the Mounties say you also need to stay safe before grabbing your broomsticks.
RCMP spokesperson Corporal Chris Marshall tells our newsroom you’ll want to make sure your costumes pop.
“It’s not a bad idea to either ensure that they have some light clothing within their costume or sometimes even adding a little adhesive high visibility strip somewhere on the costume as well can help,” Marshall says.
Reflective tape, glow sticks, and flashlights are some of the ways to help make your costumes bright in the dark.
Marshall adds it’s always a good idea for families to plan ahead.
“If your child is a little older and you are going to go out, always go with somebody,” Marshall says. “Let your parents or your guardian or whoever is an adult know what time you are leaving and how long you are planning on being before coming back.”
If you’re hitting the streets in your car you’ll also want to keep your eyes peeled for witches and wizards whizzing by.
