The cost to fix washed out roads and bridges in the eastern region of our province is expected to top $7-million.
Premier Tim Houston says it’s “at least” that amount and the damage from the storm is significant.
Inverness, Victoria and Antigonish counties were hardest hit with over 250 splashed in some communities.
“I really want to thank EHS, Health, Red Cross, the volunteers, we’ve done what Bluenosers do and we’ve really stepped up to support those that need it,” Houston wrote on Twitter.
More than 25 road and bridges have been washed out and work is underway on repairs.
Acting Public Works Minister Allan MacMaster stated on Wednesday that it will take time to fix and updates will be provided as progress is made.
