A warm embrace for seniors this holiday season thanks to the hearts of Haligonians.
The organizer of an annual blanket drive says the community has smashed another record this Christmas.
Nicole Martelle does not know the exact total yet, but at least 450 blankets were either bought or made this year.
She expects the final number will be close to 500.

In November, Martelle issued a call on social media asking for help to bring in donations with just 28 days left in the campaign.
Nova Scotians were quick to respond to the viral Tweet.
I desperately need folks to retweet. The blanket drive presently only has TWO blankets. There’s 28 days left to donate a new store bought or handmade blanket for a senior to have at Christmas. Let’s get to work Tweeters! Drop off at Halifax Northwood or Allen Print!

Martelle explains the community stepped up in a big way with some businesses collecting money to buy blankets and local groups knitting them.
Seniors also donated blankets to ensure their peers feel loved and warm this Christmas.
