Classes will continue for your child despite exploding COVID cases and the discovery of the Omicron variant in Nova Scotia.
Public health flagged 17 schools were dealing with possible exposures on Monday.
Premier Tim Houston says decisions to shut down a school will be on a case-by-case basis.
“For some, there will be a public health reason to close a school…but when that’s the case it will be communicated to those communities,” explained Houston. “For the rest, there is no public health season to close your school and it will remain open.”
Restrictions will be brought back on Friday, including social distancing, mask use and reducing indoor gathering limits.
The province is extending the holiday break by two days to give young people a chance to get vaccinated. Students will return to class on January 6.
Over 300 new COVID cases have been recorded over the last three days.
