Nova Scotia Power is preparing their response to the first nor’easter of the year, as the storm looms.
In response to potential power outages, NS Power is activating their Emergency Operations Centre at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning.
NS Power’s storm lead, Sean Borden, describes the resources being brought in to deal with potential outages.
“We have our power line technicians, we also have vegetation crews that work on trees and we have our transmission crews that work on our bulk power system,” says Borden. “Right now we’ve activated all our internal crews.”
Borden says the biggest concern is heavy wet snow.
“They’re forecasting that would be predominantly along the Atlantic coast, in the western and central parts of the province,” says Borden. “That could change by the time the weather system arrives but that’s where we see the biggest risk right now.”
Borden reassured NS Power customers they’re taking the storm seriously.
