Nearly 8000 homes and businesses were without power Sunday morning.
An overnight storm brought heavy wind and rain.
The eastern shore of Cape Breton is the hardest hit, with most of the outages along that coast and in Sydney.
Restoration times vary, with some not expected to get power back until late Sunday afternoon.
Flooding and wind damage possible with Saturday storm
Some parts of the province are expecting up to 60 mm of rain and wind gusts up to 110 km/h.
Environment Canada has issued wind warnings for the entire province, and rain warnings for much of it.
The south and eastern shores are expected to see the worst of the wind and rain, with the north and west set to see mostly wind.
Environment Canada says frozen ground won’t be able to absorb as much rain, so flooding is possible in some areas.
They are also warning strong winds may cause damage.
The wind and rain is set to begin Saturday, before tapering to scattered flurries or showers overnight into Sunday morning.
