Police have taken two people into custody after what they call offences involving a “prominent health official.”
Halifax Regional Police say the arrests were made in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation launched earlier this week.
A man and a woman were taken into custody on Pleasant Street in the Woodside area of Dartmouth on Tuesday night.
The move comes after protestors gathered outside the home of Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang on Sunday night, although police did not specifically name our top doctor.
They were with the group “Freedom Nova Scotia” and said they wanted to confront Strang about the extension of mask mandates in schools until mid-April.
Premier Tim Houston condemned the move and stated steps could be taken to prevent future protests at the homes of health officials.
HRP has provided few details, saying the incident happened in RCMP territory.
