It was great to be back in “The Nest” last weekend.
This was the first game my wife and I got to take in this season as the Thunderbirds hosted the first place Buffalo Bandits.
While at the game I noticed the fan in front of us in Section 23 who had a Thunderbirds jersey of # 24 PETTERSON.
I looked at it closer and it read “To Dad, love Clarke.”
Turns out the fan happened to be # 24 Clarke Petterson’s Dad, Norm, who was in town from Toronto for the game. How cool is that?
We got to chatting with Norm and it was not hard to tell how proud he is of Clarke and his lacrosse career.
Also watching with Norm in the stands was Brad Hutchcraft who’s son Riley Hutchcraft is a goalie for the National Lacrosse League’s Toronto Rock!
The two Dad’s enjoy watching their boys play, but when it’s against each other the intensity turns up a few notches!
They said that most of the players grew up playing against each other and play Summer Lacrosse with each other in the off season.
This is much like when our NHL stars like Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Brad Marchand, Drake Batherson and others do when they’re home in the summer.
Thanks to Norm and Brad for the chat and after Sunday’s game we sent them down to the Lower Deck!

Clarke got a hat-trick in Sunday’s game, so Norm is missing his hat as he threw it down to celebrate his son’s three goals!
Below, it was cool to get a pic with the “Voice of the Thunderbirds” Hot Country 1035’s afternoon news voice Steve MacArthur, who sits where I announce the Halifax Mooseheads games from in the penalty box area.

The Thunderbirds host Rochester this Friday in their last regular season home game.
Go Thunderbirds!
