Music legend Sting from The Police played to a sold-out Scotiabank Centre last night.
This was his first time performing in Halifax, but he told his fans last night that back in 1986 on a flight to London his wife Trudi Styler took sick and they had to stop in Halifax and make an emergency landing.
She was taken by ambulance to a Halifax hospital, Sting thanked the local doctors and nurses of our city for helping save his wife’s life. The crowd gave a thundering applause!
Yesterday, he said he took a stroll on the Halifax waterfront and got a tour of the Acadia ship. No word on whether he tried a donair or not.
Did you know Sting loves Country music?
He said when he was little he wanted to be a cowboy or a musician and looked up to legends like Hank Williams.
In London, England it was hard to make a name for himself in Country music so he switched to Rock.
Toby Keith recorded this Sting written song that was a huge hit in 1997 that Sting joined him on:
My wife’s name is Roxanne so I had to take her to see Sting!
(Above: Ian and his wife Roooooooxanne, she uses that song as her ringtone.)
(Sting’s son Joe Sumner was his opening act, Joe joined his dad at the end of the concert.)
(Take a bow!)
It was great to see another music legend come to Halifax.
