Haligonians are using a new app to help clean up the city.
The municipality says its recent community clean-up challenge was a hit thanks to the Litterati App.
It encourages us to snap photos of the litter we take off our streets and tag the spots where we found it.
That way the city can track litter hot spots that need community outreach and more garbage cans.
The app also hosts community challenges. The first one was held on Earth Day on April 22nd.
The city says the event saw more than 1,000 pieces of litter picked up.
HRM is also hosting a year-long community challenge. The goal is to see 20,000 pieces of trash cleared out of the community.
Other challenges will be issued over the summer and fall.
The Litterati app is free and available for download through the App Store and Google Play Store.
