Across the social media platform, Instagram will start rolling out Amber Alerts.
The alerts will take over the screen while users are in the app and feature as much information as available from the Amber Alert Networks.
The alerts have been active on Facebook since 2015 and also take over the screen when users are in the app.
According to MissingKids.ca, Amber Alerts were created shortly after the missing turned death case of Amber Hagerman. She was was kidnapped from Arlington, Texas and murdered.
After her death, an emergency alert system was developed to facilitate the rapid distribution of information to the public about child abduction incidents. The system, named in remembrance of Amber Hagerman, was initially a voluntary partnership between law enforcement agencies and media broadcasters to send out emergency alerts to the public when a child was abducted and believed to be in imminent danger.
