Nova Scotia music legend Matt Minglewood returned to Halifax on Saturday and was “Rockin’ the Blues” at Casino Nova Scotia!
I was lucky to take in the 75th birthday celebration that was postponed due to the pandemic.
Matt said he was so glad to be back on stage and playing live music.
The Cape Breton music icon never skipped a beat and put on a two-hour show.
Matt played from the catalogue of his classics with songs like “Me and the Boys,” “East Coast Blues,” “Rockin’ the Blues” “ Stood Up” and the Cape Breton anthem “Can’t You See” that had the crowd singing along earning him a standing ovation!
His grandnephew Drake Batherson of the Ottawa Senators was there for the bash, I had a chance to chat with Drake who said he didn’t want to miss his Great Uncle’s special night.

I was chatting with Matt on Sunday on Twitter and he said “What a great night and he was definitely feeling the love.”

Happy 75th Matt, thanks for providing the soundtrack to our lives, we can’t wait to see you next time rockin’ Halifax!
See where he’s playing next here.
